Drako

We were contacted by numerous people from all over about Drako, who had been impounded at an upstate animal shelter with extensive wounds to his neck, ear and the bridge of his nose.  The wounds were infected, so they were not new.  The shelter treated Drako for pain and infection, installing drains in the infected areas.  A microchip was detected, but it was either not registered, or else his owner didn't want him.  Initially the shelter staff found him to not be a very friendly dog, but as they treated him medically they became fond of him and felt sympathy for whatever had happened to him.  After his arrival with us, he has shown himself to be dog-social, though not needing another dog necessarily, so we're more inclined to think Drako may have been the victim of a coyote attack, rather than a "bait" dog, as some folks had surmised.  He seems to have a tolerant, mellow personality, and he's estimated at 3-4 years old and weighs about 72 pounds.
