Colt
Colt is a big, beautiful boy who has great in-home behavior but will need an experienced owner to help with his behavior outside the home. First the good: he's housebroken, not destructive, doesn't dig or jump fences, and has basic training. The negative behavior, according to his ex-owners, is that Colt apparently gets overstimulated when outside the home, causing him to bark and exhibit leash aggression toward other dogs and people. Their last incident with him involved him grabbing the jacket of a child he was allowed to come too close to. In our experience, leash aggression is fixable with the proper training, otherwise Colt would need to be muzzled when out on walks to keep from getting himself in trouble. Often all-natural supplements like Calming Bites can also help with overstimulation. Ideally we would like to place Colt in a less urban setting where he wouldn't be exposed to so many other dogs and people on walks. He's 3 years old as of May, 2026, and he weighs about 75 pounds.
