Juan originally came to us after being found as a stray and landing at an animal shelter. He was emaciated and limping so we had x-rays done at our vet. He had an old fracture to his hip so he needed an FHO surgery once he gained enough weight to safely go through surgery. Amazingly, he also had a completely collapsed lung that we assume occurred at the same time as his leg injury, perhaps from being hit by a car. Despite all he went through before and during his recovery with us, he remained spirited and happy. He plays, runs, and we see no limitations from his lack of one lung or his hip surgery but we wouldn’t necessarily recommend him for someone looking for a daily running companion either. Juan is good with most other large dogs but can be selective with some other male dogs. He may not be the best choice for a home with little dogs, though we don’t believe he is a threat to them when out for walks. He is about 3-4 years old and does well with crate training. Juan is sweet and affectionate once he bonds to someone but he can also be fairly independent, especially if he has a dog companion.
